One Killed, One Injured in Single Car Accident Leaving Williamsburg Bridge

WILLIAMSBURG – A single car accident near the Williamsburg Bridge last night left one dead and one in the hospital.

At 3:00 am on Wednesday, November 1, police responded to a 911 call about a motor vehicle accident near South 5th Street and Havemeyer Street, where they found an unconscious and unresponsive 29-year old man with trauma to the head and body, and a 26-year old woman with minor injuries, said police.

EMS transported both victims to Elmhurst hospital, where the man was pronounced deceased. Police have identified the victim as Jean Caliste, of Queens.

According to police, a preliminary investigation shows the driver lost control of the 2017 Ford Fusion while leaving the Williamsburg Bridge exit ramp, when the vehicle overturned.

A full investigation by the NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad is ongoing.
