NYPD Helicopter Hovering Over South Slope

An NYPD helicopter started circling South Slope around 10:30am on Friday morning, at times hovering around 15th Street, between 4th and 5th Avenue. The 78th Precinct told us that the helicopters “may be due to a robbery in the 72nd Precinct,” which appears to correlate with a Twitter posting on a bank robbery and car jacking at 5th Avenue and 50th Street this morning, but the 72nd has been unable to confirm that. We will update as we learn more.
