NY Post Names Victorian Flatbush One Of Three Best "Suburbs" In The City
Today’s New York Post contains a two-page spread featuring three NYC “suburbs” reachable by public transit, including Forest Hills in Queens, Fieldston in the Bronx, and our own charming Victorian Flatbush.
The Post calls our area “well beyond the cool hangouts of Williamsburg, the historic townhouses of Brooklyn Heights and the endless strollers of Park Slope,” and talks to Mary Kay Gallagher Real Estate’s Alexandra Reddish about home values in the area, including the difference in price of houses east of Ocean Avenue. The Post says:
But, according to Reddish, “You can still get very affordable for under $1 million in that area… It’s all tree-lined streets and beautiful homes.”
Reddish currently has a 1915 six-bedroom, 2 1/2-bathroom house on East 24th Street priced at $980,000. She notes, “If I moved that house across Ocean Avenue, it would probably be in the $1.4 million range.”
If you’re looking for a house in the area recently, have you noticed such a significant difference in price between, say, Ditmas Park proper and South Midwood homes? And do you think this article has let the final cat out of the “affordable” property bag?
