Now Open: Jr. Bella's Pizza & Pasta

Your new destination for the $1 slice is officially open. Jr. Bella’s Pizza & Pasta has taken over the former Palermo spot at 760 Coney Island Avenue on the corner of Cortelyou, and though some things are still works in progress, you can stop by and try it out while they finish fine-tuning the shop.

Some of you may be familiar with Jr. Bella’s. This is their third location – there’s one on Flatbush Ave at Kings Highway, and one on Avenue N – and it looks like the menu will be largely the same. The space has a few booths, and a TV that while we were there was playing MTV. Combined with the cheap slices, it’s sure to draw the Ditmas Junior High crowd.

The menu is what you’d expect from a pizza place. They don’t have printed menus to take home yet, but you can see from the sign what’s generally available, and check out the other location’s menu for more details. It’s just eat-in or take-out for now, but they’re hoping to start offering delivery by Monday.

But let’s talk about what you really want to know: How is the $1 slice?

Tasty enough that I forgot to take a picture before I took a bite. The slices are their regular plain slices, straight from the whole pies, with a crisp crust, oozy cheese, and a straightforward sauce. And yes, they are $1 flat.

Also $1 are these sodas that are branded as the pizzeria’s. There are about a dozen flavors, from orange to sarsaparilla.

Jr. Bella’s Pizza & Pasta is located at 760 Coney Island Avenue at Cortelyou Road, 347-318-3223.
