Now Open: Fort Greene General Store

We noted at the end of last week that neighbor Andriana Spence would be making some changes to her Dekalb Avenue boutique Hank & JoJo–in particular, that she’d be expanding her inventory to include gifts and apparel for adults as well. The Fort Greene General Store, the boutique’s new incarnation, opened on Tuesday, and we stopped in to take a look.

A combination of handmade and vintage items, the Fort Greene General Store stocks preloved clothing and accessories picked by Honeysuckle and Hearts

… modern and retro wearables and jewelry…

… home wares including blankets and other linens, plus cooking and dining supplies…

… and, of course, clothing and toys for children.

Andriana says gifts range from under $20 for items like kids’ books, all the way up to $100 and beyond for a one of a kind item like an early 1900s table runner. And while they’ve moved music classes to the Brooklyn Music School, the Fort Greene General Store will now be holding its own events–starting with a trunk show for textile designer and Artisan Market regular MUNY on Sunday, September 21.

The store’s hours have also changed–they will now be open from 11am-8pm Tuesday through Saturday, 11am-6pm on Sundays, and Mondays by appointment. Stop into 218 Dekalb Avenue (between Adelphi Street and Clermont Avenue) to see the shop for yourself, or to make an appointment, call 718-237-0826.
