Notes From The CB14 Monthly Meeting

Community Board 14 held its monthly meeting last night at Edward R Murrow High School. As this was the first meeting back from summer recess (and everyone wanted to watch Monday night football), there’s not an extensive list of stuff to report–but there are a few really cool and useful nuggets in the mix.

  • Shawn says improving the street scape at the Flatbush-Nostrand Junction is a priority for the Fiscal Year 2015 budget. There will be elaboration on community project suggestions at the special CB14 Budget Committee meeting, also September 17.
  • Inspector Eric Rodriguez stopped by to say the 70th Precinct has seen an over 6% drop in crime overall from this time last year. In addition, Captain James Palumbo is now at the 71st Precinct, and we’ll get to meet his new replacement soon.
  • Mo Razvi of COPO says they still have free school supplies and Children’s Place cash cards for families affected by Hurricane Sandy. You can call 718-434-3266 to get in touch.
  • The Friends of the Flatbush Library group is looking for more members to help support a free art gallery and garden at the branch. Call the library (22 Linden Boulevard between Flatbush and Bedford Avenues) at 718-856-0813 for more information.

The next monthly meeting will be Monday, October 7 at PS 249 (18 Marlborough Road between Church and Caton Avenues), and the public is welcome to attend.
