‘Tis the season for holiday tree lightings and all the festivities that come along with it!

First up is tonight’s tree lighting at MetroTech Commons, in front of 2 MetroTech Center, at 5pm, where not only will there be a 54-foot-high, 7,000-pound Norway Spruce tree from North Carolina, adorned with over 10,000 lights, but there will also be two LIVE REINDEER! bringing Santa Claus to greet community kids and families.

Other guests include the Brooklyn Youth Chorus, Big Apple Circus clowns, Dancewave, and Brooklyn Nets players.

Then, this Sunday, December 6 at 5pm, make sure to walk on over to the Myrtle Avenue/Washington Park entrance of Fort Greene Park for the second annual holiday tree lighting, sponsored by Myrtle Avenue Brooklyn Partnership and Fort Greene Park Conservancy.

Like last year, kids can take photos with Santa, listen to music from the Dr. Susan McKinney Secondary School of Arts Choir, and snack on free hot chocolate and treats from Castro’s (511 Myrtle), Pushkin Bakery & Creperie (541 Myrtle), and Brooklyn Sweet Spot (266 Myrtle).

The season of giving, though, means you can also bring new, packaged toys for the toy drive benefiting the annual holiday toy drive held by Fort Greene SNAP and Whitman Resident Association.
