New York Ballots Get Bigger Font

Earlier this month, Primary Day led several politicians and voters to voice concerns over problems in the electoral process. Council Member Jumaane Williams discussed several issues, in particular urging New Yorkers to pay attention to the tiny (and shrinking) font used on the ballots.

Thanks in part to the Council Member’s efforts, the city’s Board of Elections voted Tuesday to increase the font size on ballots for November’s general election, the New York Times reports. From micro-sized 7-point font, candidates’ names will now be printed in 9-point font, giving readers — particularly the elderly and poor of sight — a clearer indication of who they are voting for.
