New Buildings Going In At 247 & 266 Greene Avenue

Neighbors on Greene Avenue between Grand and Classon really ought to invest in some earplugs if they haven’t already–in addition to the single family building at 218 and Boaz Gilad’s development from 260-264 that wrapped up construction in February, work is underway at two more addresses on the block.

266 Greene, just next to Gilad’s buildings, is set to be a three story, three family building by Brookland Capital. Permits were filed for the job in late May, and workers already have two floors partially completed.

Across the way at 247 Greene, permits were filed in mid-June to excavate in preparation for a four story, two family building to go up. A quick search shows that the lot at 247 has been vacant for a number of years, although Brownstoner’s Montrose Morris has an idea of what the building that formerly stood there might have looked like.

The house (and former funeral chapel!) next door at 245 Greene is in rough shape, but is already on the market for nearly $2 million. We wonder what all this new development will mean for that price tag, and how closely the look of the new building will align with that of its five siblings.

If you live on or near this block, how has all the construction been for you?
