Neighbors In The News: No 7’s Tyler Kord Collaborates With Vans

How cool is this? Chef Tyler Kord of Fort Greene’s No 7 (7 Greene Avenue at Hanson Place), seemingly no longer satisfied with only the culinary arts field, has teamed up with sneaker company Vans to create an attractive shoe that’s also ideal for working long hours in a kitchen.

The company’s new chef-friendly Classic Slip-On, designed in collaboration with Tyler, looks just as good as their standard version–but has a few new features including additional insole padding, a siped outsole for added traction on wet or otherwise slippery floors, and a stain-resistant upper.

In addition to his turn as a footwear designer, Tyler is also the co-owner and head chef at No 7, as well as the co-owner of offshoot No 7 Sub in Greenpoint. You can read our interview with him discussing six successful years at No 7 here.

As for the shoes, they’ll be available in all black on the Vans site soon.
