Neighbor Sets Up Doggy Port-A-Potties On Union Street
We were quite surprised and perplexed when we found these round disks of grass all along Union Street a couple of weeks ago.
It turns out Union Street neighbor and gardener Jon Crow was fed up with dogs peeing on the trees and flowers on his block, so he built what he calls “Doggie Spots” and placed them along Union Street between 5th and 6th Avenues.
The “Doggie Spots” are made of kiddie pools or plastic saucer sleds that Crow fills with gravel and soil and then plants with sod.
“I’m the guy who lives on the block who’s gonna get beat up one day, because I’m always yelling, ‘Get your dogs out of the f–king trees!’” Crow told The Post. “I thought, I have to do something more peaceful and zen.”
Crow says he has to cut the grass with hand clippers and takes special care with the watering, and he claims that as long as you drain the Spots, they don’t smell.
What do you think? Is this the next big thing in doggy bathrooms?
