Attention neighbors between the ages of 14 and 24! If you’re looking for a summer job, you can apply now for the city’s Summer Youth Employment Program.

Through Friday, April 10 (update: the deadline is now extended two weeks, to Friday, April 24), you’ll be able to apply for a summer gig through the program, which provides people with paid employment for up to six weeks in July and August. Participants, who are selected for the positions by lottery, work in a variety of entry-level jobs, including in government agencies, hospitals, summer camps, non-profits, small businesses, law firms, museums, sports enterprises, and more.

For example, in our community, youth in the SYEP program can work at Community Counseling and Mediation Center (810 Classon Avenue), Bed-Stuy Restoration (1368 Fulton Street), St. Nick’s Alliance (850 Grand Street), and Medgar Evers College’s CUNY Research Foundation (1534 Bedford Avenue)

To apply, you can go here – just make sure you register by April 10.

If you have further questions about the employment program, visit the city’s Department of Youth & Community Development’s website or call 1-800-246-4646.
