National Grid Leaves Open Street Cuts On Argyle For Nearly Two Months?

Following a neighbor’s recent concerns over ongoing National Grid construction on E 17th St., we noticed another troublesome scene on Argyle Rd. between Cortelyou and Dorchester. As a worker said on Wednesday, gas upgrades are being done all over the area–and it looks like while the work permit may have expired on Argyle in early May and construction is no longer being done, well, it’s not exactly completed, either.

National Grid has left multiple deep open street cuts  on the block that are not only unsafe, but are also rapidly filling up with trash. There are no more current permits filed for the street, and while the upside-down permit on a sawhorse by one of the holes might be a coincidence, it makes one wonder if it was positioned that way in the hopes that no one would take a second to notice the cuts should have been filled before May 6. It certainly seems to have worked for a while.

We are reaching out to National Grid on the issue via their online contact form, and hope you will too. You can also report cuts online (this seems most like a failed street repair) or by calling 311.

Have you noticed open street cuts or other signs of National Grid construction that should have been wrapped up a long time ago?
