It’ll be at least another few weeks before the Key Food at 490 Myrtle Avenue (fka Associated Supermarket) opens to the public. This means that the previous late-September opening is being postponed.

The news was announced yesterday (Wednesday, September 16) by the Myrtle Avenue Brooklyn Partnership on their blog, where they also noted that co-owner Rudy Guzman expressed his excitement to be “returning home.”

We’re really excited to be returning home,” shared Guzman, son of one of the owners who grew up working in the family business.  The reopened store will have a focus on “homemade,” particularly as it concerns the on-premises baking and cooking in the store’s prepared foods and catering section. Other changes to look forward to: an expanded meats section, a freezer section and an area for salad bar.
