Murrow High School Went Under Lock Down This Afternoon; No One Harmed
Edward R. Murrow High School at 1600 Avenue L in Midwood went under a full lock down this afternoon after it was believed that at least one unauthorized person gained entry to the building, though it turned out there were no intruders, our sister site, Sheepshead Bites, first reported.
According to the 70th Precinct, “a teacher saw three kids in the stairway with (what she thought were) knives.”
The teacher then “sounded the alarm,” the 70th Precinct said, though it turned out that the “kids were from the shop class in the school and were going to a different floor with these sharp instruments. No one was in the school who wasn’t supposed to be there.”
During the lock down, which was lifted as school ended around 2:45pm, teachers were ordered to shelter in their classrooms, lock the doors and not let anybody in or out.
