MTA To Increase G Train Service

Though the MTA said earlier this year that increased service is coming to the G train, we’ve got more promising news that it will actually happen, and with a start date no less.

State Assemblyman Joseph Lentol says he got a letter from the MTA stating that beginning in June 2014, G train service will see an increase in service on weekdays from 3pm to 9pm, decreasing the wait time from 10 minutes to eight and a half minutes.

Unfortunately, though, it sounds like repairs to the G train tunnels which were damaged during Hurricane Sandy will continue next year. Lentol also notes that the tunnel from Nassau Avenue to Court Street in Long Island City will be closed for five consecutive weeks starting in the end of July 2014.
