Moving To Ditmas Park? (Sponsored)

About Ditmas Park

Officially a historic district, Ditmas Park refers to all of Brooklyn’s Victorian Flatbush neighborhoods, drenched in reminders of the early 1900s. Free-standing homes decorate the streets, yet nearby Park Slope’s explosive growth keeps the atmosphere modern and youthful. Literally just arriving to the area makes you forget about the stress of the day. It is easy to understand why so many people are moving here. FlatRate Moving takes a look at why this neighborhood is booming and shares some tips to help you move here.

Why Move to Ditmas Park?

Despite its remote suburbia feel, the Q line can get you downtown in about 30 minutes. There is also the convenience of the 2, 5, and F trains, as well as multiple (express) bus lines. Drivers can take advantage of Prospect Expressway and Flatbush Avenue, which provide direct paths to the downtown area and other parts of Brooklyn.

If the homes are not impressive enough already, many of the lots in the neighborhood run 200 feet deep and cost about the same as what you would pay for a tiny one-bedroom condo in the East Village.

Ditmas Park offers close proximity to Prospect Park, which has 114-acre forest and lake, as well as several attractions. Also, close by is the Green-Wood Cemetery, where you will find 20 miles of paths and amazing views.

Ditmas Park Moving Tips

Since Ditmas Park is a historic neighborhood, there really is not much new development. If the part of the neighborhood you are planning to move to is landmarked, any changes to home exteriors, fencing, etc. may need to be approved, so keep that in mind, if you plan on doing any renovating.

Most of the homes here have street parking, so you may want to have a car parked in a good spot that can quickly be moved out of the way for the moving truck. Many streets are one way, and parking is available on both sides.

When you are ready to start unpacking, grab a coffee from Milk & Honey, and when your stomach starts growling, a slice from San Remo Pizzeria will more than satisfy.
