Mourners Gather At McDonald Avenue Prayer Service For Murder Victim Mahiuddin Mahmud

An afternoon drizzle didn’t prevent members of the Bangladeshi community, NYPD 66th Precinct brass, and reporters from showing up at the mid-afternoon prayer service on Friday, January 10 on McDonald Avenue just north of the Baitul Jannah Masjid at the corner of Avenue C to honor murdered local landlord Mahiuddin Mahmud.

The mosque’s imam (center, with microphone) delivered final prayers in front of the casket.

Precinct commander Michael Deddo, who spoke briefly at the service, agreed with this reporter that it was a “sad day.” He then amended it saying, “It’s been a sad week.”

Our condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew him.
