Morning Commutes Ruined By Cortelyou Bus Reroutes, Fire At Church Subway

Did you get to work on time this morning, and not smelling like smoke? Count yourself lucky, because multiple transportation issues converged today, making the commute worse than usual for many Ditmas Park residents.
We came across this sign being put up at 8:15am, long after many folks had already left for work. A neighbor attempting to take one of the buses affected by road work wondered, like we did, why no signage managed to get posted ahead of time. Even now, bus reroutes aren’t listed under Planned Service Changes on the MTA site.
@MTA Detoured to "bus stop" w/no sign, info. Also, no notification until this AM. We meant to flag buses from road? pic.twitter.com/4lmuWKqqjM

On top of the Cortelyou bus fiasco, though, all those extra subway riders who now take the B/Q from Church Avenue had a smoky wake up call.
@DPCornerblog do you know what happened at the church avenue station? There's a smoke situation, firefighters everywhere.

My subway station is full of smoke; no one seems particularly concerned.

A spokesman for the FDNY said there was nothing to worry about, though, as a small garbage fire on the tracks called in at 8:25am was put out almost immediately, and no injuries were reported.
When it rains, it pours. How was your commute this morning?
