More Of The Slope To Get Citi Bike

More of Park Slope will be included in Citi Bike‘s expansion plans, which will double the size of the bike sharing program by 2017.

According to the map, it looks like they’ll cover the area as far south as 15th Street, and they note on their blog that they’re taking suggestions for docking stations online. They plan to add 6,000 bikes and over 375 new stations, and in our area, people have, over the years since the Citi Bike program was first announced, already suggested a several good ones, like near the 4th Ave-9th St subway station, at Bartel-Pritchard Square, and more.

And while this is great news for all the people regularly clearing out the dock at 4th and Dean, it’s still a ways off — our neighborhood will be in Phase II of the expansion, following areas in Greenpoint, Williamsburg, LIC, and Bed Stuy that will begin to see installations in 2015.

They also announced the annual membership rate is going up from $95 to $149 per year, effective immediately, but there’s no change to the $60 Citi Bike discount membership for New York City Housing Authority residents.
