Midwood Man Sentenced To 36 Years For Scheme To Drug, Sexually Abuse Children As Young As Three Months Old

Baslan

Midwood resident Bebars Baslan was sentenced to 36 years in prison and lifetime supervision after authorities busted him and his girlfriend in a scheme to drug and sexually abuse three children, including a three-month-old infant.

Baslan, 37, was arrested in March 2013 at  Jersey City hotel with girlfriend. The two, who lived on Ocean Parkway near Avenue L, had arranged to meet a friend who agreed to deliver his own children and a niece – a 7-year-old girl, an 18-month-old boy and the three-month-old boy – drugged up with Benadryl to be molested on camera.

Unbeknownst to the scheming duo, the friend had ratted them out to the FBI and was working with the law enforcement agency to put them away.

After the arrest, authorities found more than 76,000 images and videos of child pornography in Baslan’s possession.

Evidence at trial showed that Baslan first approached his friend about a plan to sexually abuse children in January 2013. The friend went to law enforcement and agreed to cooperate, eventually recording Baslan and his girlfriend discussing plans to take sexually explicit photos and video of children.

Baslan’s gal pal also worked with children, and Baslan hoped to use the connections she had created to start a babysitting service so they could drug and sexually abuse the children under their care – that is, until they themselves could have a child to abuse, according to recordings made by the friend.

Baslan: “She is dying for me to have a baby with her for us to whatever.”
Confidential Source: “The two of you together, to have your own kid and raise it in a sexual, like upbringing kind of thing?”
Baslan: “Right.”

Baslan was convicted in July 2014 of traveling with the intent to engage in sexual acts with a child under 12 years of age, conspiracy to produce child pornography, and attempted coercion and enticement of a child to engage in illegal sexual conduct.
