MetroPCS Coming to Newkirk Plaza

Alternate headline: MetroPCS Kills Dreams of Restaurant with Outdoor Seating.

As you probably already know from Kate Noyes’ comment on the story about two vacancies on Newkirk Plaza, a MetroPCS will be opening in that prime space where Liberty Tax used to be, where there is a great section of plaza that many of you pictured hosting tables for outdoor seating.

Workers were spotted yesterday giving the corner a coat of paint, so it looks like the shop will open soon. Glad to have an empty hole filled, even if it’s not what everyone was fantasizing about.

But keep hope alive, people–there’s still another empty storefront in the plaza, just waiting for an enterprising entrepreneur to create something interesting there.
