MetroCard Bus Today!

I know this is last minute, but we’ve just received the following press release from Assemblyman Peter Abate:

TO BRING MTA METROCARD BUS TODAY JUNE 30, 2011

Building on the success of recent MetroCard Bus visits, Assemblyman Peter J. Abbate is announcing the program’s return to our community.

Brooklyn—After the success of last year’s MetroCard bus program, Assemblyman Abbate is proud to announce that the MetroCard Bus will return to our neighborhood at two locations: Assemblyman Abbate’s Community Office, 6419 11th Avenue from 10:00 am – 11:30 am and St. Dominic’s Church, Bay Parkway and 20th Avenue, 12:30 pm  – 2:00 PM on Thursday, June 30.

In order to be eligible for a reduced fare MetroCard, you must be either 65+ or have qualifying disability, and must complete a proper application. By bringing the MetroCard Bus to our community, Assemblyman Abbate has cut out the middle-man. Those who qualify can fill out all the necessary paperwork on the day of, and after completing the paperwork they will be granted a temporary MetroCard on the spot.

“This is truly a great program,” Assemblyman Abbate said. “I am glad that we can bring it back again this year, because there is nothing more important to me than taking care of our seniors. The half-fare MetroCard is an important program for helping seniors, and the MetroCard Bus makes it easier to get your half fare MetroCard hassle free.”

• 65+ or have Medicare qualifying disability
• Proper I.D. is required–NYC Dept. of Aging ID Card, Medicare Card,  (Medicaid not accepted) Access-A-Ride card, MTA ID Card (pre-1995)
• On the spot approval–Save the cost of photos & notary fee
• MTA Reduced-Fare MetroCard is personalized with your name and photograph, works the same as a regular MetroCard
• Add money to your Reduced Fare MetroCard or regular MetroCard
