Eat & Shop Your Heart Out Cortelyou: March Madness
When: Ongoing until Saturday, March 27th
Where: Cortelyou Road between Coney Island Avenue and East 17th Street
What: This month-long event celebrates the amazing businesses of Cortelyou, while offering discounts and savings to our loyal community. Each week has a different theme, with merchants offering specific discounts and specials.
This week through 3/13, PRIX FIXE Dinner: Asya Indian Restaurant; Bashi Channel; The Castello Plan; The Farm On Adderley; Jr. Bella’s Pizza & Pasta; Lea; and Purple Yam.
How much: Discounts throughout the month.
Days of Merriment at the 773 Lounge
When: Thursday (3/10), Saturday (3/12), and Sunday (3/13)
Where: 773 Coney Island Avenue
What: Thursday is owner Billy Cain’s birthday! Live music with Paul LaPlaca and his new band “Theory of Mind”; Saturday is karaoke night, starting at 10pm; Sunday is our Shepherd’s Pie Throwdown. Open call for entries. Details on Facebook. Get your entry there by 4:30pm. Contest starts at 5pm.

CaribBEING House Art & Culture Space
When: Saturday (3/12) from noon to 7pm, and Sunday (3/13) from noon to 5pm
Where: Intersection of Flatbush and Caton Avenues
What: a new, multipurpose art and cultural space located in the plaza of the Flatbush Caton Market. This solar powered and beautifully transformed storage container will host exhibitions, book readings and other activities. It’s the latest project of CaribBEING, a non-profit organization whose stated mission is to build community through the lens of Caribbean cinema, culture and art.

Live Music At Bar Chord
When: Thursday (3/10), Friday (3/11), Saturday (3/12), and Sunday (3/13) — at 9pm
Where: Bar Chord, 1008 Cortelyou Road
What: Eugene Tyler Band on Thursday; Jake G and Soul Vibrance on Friday; Reverse Double Clutch on Saturday; and Cortelyou Jazz Jam on Sunday

Brooklyn Kids Rock Fundraiser
When: Sunday, March 13th, from noon to 4pm
Where: The Bell House, 147 7th Street, Brooklyn; By Subway: Take R to 9th Street or F/G to 4th Avenue
What: Fundraiser for Brooklyn’s Maple Street School. Every penny you spend turns into need-based tuition assistance for a student. Drop your winter doldrums at the door and hit the dance floor for a rockin,’ glow-in-the-dark afternoon with some of young Brooklyn’s favorite live tunes. Fun-filled dance party with live music, a pop-up tattoo parlor, photo booth, face painting, touch-an-instrument, tasty treats and more.
How much: Individual tickets are $15 online through March 4th or $18 at the door / Family 4 pack is $50 online. Activity Bands are $10 for 1 child / $15 for 2 children / $20 for 3 or more children – food and bar service is not included in ticket price or activity bands.
