‘Marketplace’ Coming to Fire-Damaged Former Associated Supermarket Space

A sign that popped up yesterday on the corner of 5th Avenue and 17th Street promises a “marketplace” is coming soon to the space, which has been vacant since a massive fire gutted the Associated Supermarket and the Unisex Hair Salon, led to the Mambo Lounge’s closure, and displaced several families in 2010.

We finally started to see some hopeful signs of renewal this past fall, but this is the first we’ve heard of plans for a new business.
