‘Maritime Mutant’ Artwork Wanted For Promotion Of Gowanus Canal Conservancy Annual Fundraiser

What lies beneath the waters of the Gowanus Canal? Let your imagination run wild for this call for artwork submissions from the Gowanus Canal Conservancy.

The local non-profit organization is seeking ‘Maritime Mutant’ inspired artwork or drawings — think toxic mermaids, Superfund sludge dolphins, man-eating plants — which they will post on their social media accounts leading up to Antifreeze 2015, their annual fundraising party coming up on February 28 that benefits their volunteer and education programs. Some original works may be selected to be on display at the party, as well.

Submit original works in any medium with a minimum resolution of 600 dpi, and the dimensions suitable for social media platforms such as Instagram (square images) and Facebook. Include the following information:

  • Artist first and last name
  • Title of work
  • Brief description of work
  • Medium
  • Dimensions
  • Social media handles (if you would like for them mentioned in their posts)
  • Artist’s website
  • If you belong to a local artists group or collective
  • Phone number and email

Email submissions by Tuesday, January 20 to nya@gowanuscanalconservancy.org.

Artists will receive acknowledgement for their works on the social media channels, and the knowledge that you’re helping support an organization that’s working toward a clean, open, and alive Gowanus Canal Watershed.
