Man With Gunshot Wound To Crotch Drives To Methodist, Hitting Two Cars On Arrival
A 45-year-old man who was shot in the crotch had the wherewithal to drive himself more than three miles to the front entrance of Methodist Hospital (506 6th Street at 7th Avenue) to receive emergency care late this afternoon.
Witnesses say that a man driving a Range Rover pulled up to the corner of the hospital at approximately 5:05pm on Saturday, June 11.
According to cops, several gunshots were fired at the intersection of 53rd Street and 3rd Avenue in the Sunset Park neighborhood, resulting in the wounds to the “lower regions” of the 45-year-old man.
Two hospital workers who would not provide their names told us they were at the front entrance of the hospital when the man pulled up in his Range Rover. “He hit two cars there,” said one worker, gesturing to the corner of 7th Avenue and 6th Street.
At least six cops were on the scene investigating the incident. Police tape surrounded the Range Rover driven by the man with the gunshot wound, as well as at least one car hit by the driver — a tan Jeep with New York State license plates.
Another hospital worker who explained almost identical details said the man was currently being treated for his wounds. “I don’t know what type of surgery, but he’s in the ER right now,” she said.
Traffic was snarled on 7th Avenue as cops investigated the incident. The backup was compounded by the closure of sections of 5th Avenue due to the Brooklyn Pride celebration and parade at the same time. Several through-streets between 7th Avenue and 6th Avenue were blocked off as well.
