Man Struck By Train At Sheepshead Bay Station After Throwing Himself Onto Tracks
A man was struck by a Manhattan-bound Q train at the Sheepshead Bay subway station Wednesday afternoon after he threw himself onto the tracks in an apparent suicide attempt, police say.
The NYPD reported the man was conscious and in stable condition when he was first pulled from the train tracks. However, the FDNY said he later suffered a cardiac arrest and was rushed to Lutheran Medical Center in Bay Ridge.
The MTA reported the incident to police at 4:16pm and trains were delayed for more than an hour while the man was pulled to safety and police investigated the incident, cops say.
Earlier this summer another man was pinned to the tracks at the Kings Highway station after being struck by a southbound B train. Police did not provide information about whether the man had jumped or fallen in front of the oncoming train. He was sent to Bellevue Hospital in Manhattan to be treated for trauma.
