Updated 11/25/2015 10:45am: A man was shot on Tuesday morning around 11:20am on East 17th Street near Caton Avenue in the 70th Precinct, according to police.
Police report the man, who was in his 30s, was shot in the chest and was transported by private means to Kings County Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
According to the Daily News, the man walked up to a motorist at Caton Avenue and asked for a ride to the hospital because he had been shot.
Neighbor Reid Egbert has lived on the block for 20 years, and told DNAinfo that he heard three shots Tuesday morning.
The news outlet reports that police were canvasing the area for more information Tuesday afternoon. There are no arrests and the investigation is ongoing. We will update with more information as it becomes available.
