Man Shot And Killed Down The Road From His Home

A man was shot and killed on East 56 Street between Avenue O and Fillmore Avenue on Thursday September 1 at around 12:30pm, according to police.

Kendell Walcott, 24, was killed down the road from his home on the corner of Avenue O and East 56 Street. Police responded to a call about shots fired at the location, and found Walcott on the ground in front of 1649 East 56 St with a gunshot wound to his chest, according to police.

The motive for the killing remains unknown and there are no suspects at the moment, police said. Walcott does have former gang affiliation, and has had five prior arrests for marijuana, according to police.

EMS responded to the location of the shooting, and transported Walcott to Kings County Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
