Man Arrested For Stealing $1,500 Worth Of Jeans From Mavi

While the folks at Mavi Jeans (205 5th Avenue) are getting busy thinking about which of your great designs they’ll paint as a mural on their Union Street wall, unfortunately someone else was getting busy stealing a bunch of their pants.

The Daily News reports that 45-year-old Jeffrey Gesner was arrested for allegedly stealing 12 pairs of men’s Yaletown jeans from the shop, worth $128 each — about $1,500 all together — on April 30. After grabbing the stack and running toward the subway at 4th Avenue and 9th Street, police nabbed him as he tried to jump the turnstile, but the jeans still made a clean getaway — police believe he passed them off to an accomplice who took off with them.

Gesner has been charged with grand larceny, criminal possession of stolen property, and theft of service, according to the Daily News.
