Low-Hanging Tree Blocking Manhattan-Bound Local Track

Low-Hanging Tree Blocking Manhattan-Bound Local Track

There was a brief moment of panic when commuters saw an alert that B and Q service might be disrupted for the second evening rush hour in a row. As of now, though, it’s just Manhattan-bound local service that’s not running–so if that’s the direction you’re heading, at least you can double back if you need to. Check mta.info for further updates about service along the line. Update, 6pm: MTA says it’s all back to normal now.

So what is the cause of the disruption? A low-hanging branch over the tracks between Newkirk and Cortelyou. You can see it there above the men on the tracks, and ahead is a Manhattan-bound express train, which passed by the branch very slowly. It’s not as bad as what happened along this section of track last year, but better safe than sorry.
