Local Woman Dies In Police Custody
After being arrested in violation of an order of protection, 33-year-old Kyam Livingston of Stratford Road died while in police custody this morning, according to the NYPD.
Police say that just before 1am on Saturday, July 20, they responded to a 911 call for a dispute at Stratford Rd near Caton Ave, and when they arrived, a 79-year-old woman who they identified as the victim told them she was in a verbal dispute with Livingston, who police found to be in violation of an order of protection. She was placed under arrest, and police say she was transported by EMS to Kings County Hospital for apparent intoxication.
At 9am Saturday, police report she was released from Kings Country, transported back to the 70th Precinct for processing, and then at 10:30am, she was was moved to Brooklyn Central Booking to await arraignment. Then early this morning, the NYPD says she was taken from Central Booking to Brooklyn Hospital by EMS for apparent seizures, where she was pronounced dead.
The medical examiner will determine cause of death, and the investigation is ongoing. We will update as we learn more.
