Local Subway Service Advisories For The Memorial Day Weekend


Just because Monday is Memorial Day doesn’t mean all the subway work gets a holiday. Some of the service changes that are coming up this weekend will continue through Tuesday morning, so be sure to note these issues before heading out the door. Details from the MTA:

No 2 trains between Franklin Av and Flatbush Av
No 4 trains between Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr and Utica Av/New Lots Av
Weekend & Holiday, 11:30pm Friday, May 23 to 5am Tuesday, May 27
4 service operates between Woodlawn and Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr. 2 service operates between 241 St and Franklin Av, and trains make all stops between Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr and Franklin Av.

Transfer between 2 trains and shuttle buses at Franklin Av. Free shuttle buses make all stops between Franklin Av and Flatbush Av. See the shuttle bus stop list here.

Sutter Av shuttle buses make all stops between Franklin Av and Sutter Av. New Lots Av shuttle buses run express between Franklin Av and Sutter Av and make all stops between Sutter Av and New Lots Av. Transfer between shuttle buses at Sutter Av. See the shuttle bus stop list here.

No 3 trains running
Weekend & Holiday, 11:30pm Friday, May 23 to 5am Tuesday, May 27
2 trains make all 3 stops between 135 St and Franklin Av. Free shuttle buses provide alternate service, as listed above.

No B trains running
Holiday, Tuesday, May 27
On Memorial Day, Monday, May 26, the New York City Subway will operate on a Sunday schedule, which means the B train will not be running.

G service operates every 20 minutes between Court Sq and Bedford-Nostrand Avs
Weekend & Holiday, 5am to 12 midnight, Saturday, May 24 to Monday, May 26
The last stop for alternate trains from Church Av is Bedford-Nostrand Avs.

No R trains between Lower Manhattan and Downtown Brooklyn
All times until October 2014
No R service at City Hall, Cortlandt, Rector, Whitehall, Court Streets, and Jay Street-MetroTech. R service operates between Forest Hills-71st Avenue and Bay Ridge-95th Street. Trains run via the Q in both directions between Canal Street and DeKalb Avenue.

Additionally, look out for changes further down the DF, and Q lines.
