Local Democratic Leaders Seeking New Borough President Candidate?

Brooklyn Borough President frontrunner Senator Eric Adams may have gotten himself into hot water on the phone with former Senator Shirley Huntley, who has just been sentenced to a year and a day in prison for embezzlement and bribery–and word is Brooklyn Democratic leaders are getting a little antsy.

Huntley, who stole $88,000 from a state-funded non-profit organization she ran, dodged the federal minimum of 18 months in jail by agreeing to record phone conversations with other elected officials. Brooklyn Assistant US Attorney Daniel Spector says conversations with three people (including a “Senator #1) yielded “evidence useful to law enforcement authorities.”

So far, Senator Adams doesn’t seem to be facing any stiff opposition in the race (although Council Member Brad Lander has been rumored as a possible candidate for the position)–and he has denied any wrongdoing.

Do you think he’s one of the three on the tapes–and if so, who would you rather see running?
