Listen to Lucius, Ditmas Park’s Loveliest Sound
Phenomenal local band Lucius just premiered their new music video in anticipation of the release of their first full length next year.
“Don’t Just Sit There” is the first song on the band’s self-titled EP. The two lead singers described writing the song to Spinner:
‘Don’t Just Sit There’ was written when we were living in an old Victorian house in Brooklyn’s Ditmas Park. We found the place on Craigslist, not knowing it was a recording studio and music school for 60 years prior. There were so many treasures there that had been left behind, like a Steinway Grand Piano that laid in the living room, almost as if it had been waiting for us. Many of our songs were written on that piano, including this one.
The second song on the EP, Turn it Around, has its own killer video which debuted in October.

The band has two more songs out there: Go Home and Genevieve, both really beautiful pieces of work. Let’s put it this way: five stars, two thumbs up, a golden record upon this talented bunch. You’ll be hearing more from them in 2013.
You may remember that back in April, Lucius had their van stolen in the middle of a gigs. After friends lent them gear and support, hundreds of people from the community and their fans came together and bought them a new van. Lucius is touring now, and they’ll be back in New York City on January 18 at the Mercury Lounge.
