Life Is Peachy Keen At This Week’s PS 295 Market

It’s the most wonderful time of the year…peaches have arrived at the PS 295 Farmers Market!

The market, run by the teachers, parents, and students of PS 295, was launched in 2013 and offers a vast array of produce grown in the school’s garden, but also features harvest selections from Hector Perez of Jersey Farms.

Ready to stock up the kitchen for the weekend? In addition to those sweet peaches, things like cucumbers and cantaloupe are at the ready to satisfy your locally grown cravings. That’s only the beginning, though! You can find a full list of available goodies below:

Beets
Blueberries
Cantaloupe
Corn
Kale (lacinato and regular)
Lettuce
Peaches
Red onions
Tomatoes (heirloom)
Tomatoes (sungold)

Oh but wait, there’s more! Look for these straight-from-the-school’s-garden options:

Cucumbers
Culantro
Epazote
Mint (lime)
Thai basil

The PS 295 Farmers Market (19th Street, between 6th and 7th Avenues) runs every Thursday from 2:30-4:30pm. If you’re a parent at the school and you’d like to get involved, or if you have any questions, stop by the market or contact market@ps295.org for more information. And be sure to follow them on Facebook for weekly updates!
