Leiby Kletzky Murder Trial To Take Place In Brooklyn
It looks like the man charged in the murder and dismemberment of 8-year-old Leiby Kletzky will be standing trial in Brooklyn, after an appeals court threw out a request for a change of venue.
Levi Aron, who is accused of kidnapping and murdering Kletzky, had attempted to get the trial moved to either Suffolk County or the Bronx. His defense team cited media coverage surrounding the young boy’s death as justification to seek a fair trial outside of the victim’s home borough of Brooklyn.
From the Post:
“Current defense counsel’s attempts to correct inaccurate information and to redirect the public to seek justice through trial instead of vengeance have been ignored,” wrote Jennifer McCann, Aron’s lawyer.
Last week, the Appellate Division ruled that the trial would remain in Brooklyn, unless the defense can convince court officials otherwise after a jury is chosen.
