Do you love going to the Fort Greene Greenmarket on Saturdays, but are too indecisive about what fruits and vegetables to buy? Are you open to being surprised by new types of produce that you can experiment with? Do you want to know that every dollar of your purchase goes to supporting one or two family farms?

Then buying a share in community-supported agriculture (CSA) might be for you and now is your last chance to sign up for the May-November season with either Greene Harvest CSA or Clinton Hill CSA.

Greene Harvest CSA’s next — and possibly last — sign-up event is tomorrow (Saturday, April 11) from 10am-12pm at Habana Outpost at 757 Fulton Street and vegetable/fruit/eggs/etc pick-ups are weekly, every Saturday morning from 9-11am between May 30 and October 31 (except July 4).

Shares are $312 ($14.18 per week) or $600 ($27.27 per week) for 22 weeks of vegetables from The Farm at Miller’s Crossing. Other farms provide fruit, eggs, hard cider, beef, honey, tomatoes, yogurt and coffee for added cost.

Clinton Hill CSA runs June through November with Thursday evening vegetable pick-ups from 5-7:30pm at P.S. 56 at 170 Gates Avenue (between Downing Street and Irving Place). Twenty-two weeks of vegetables cost either $365 for 1-2 people or $575 for a family of four, with the produce coming from Windflower Farm. Eleven weeks of produce costs $183 or $288. Additional shares of fruit, flowers, and eggs can also be purchased.

Both CSA groups require members to work at least one volunteer shift to help distribute produce.
