Las Bicicletas Art Exhibit Arrives At Bartel-Pritchard Square

The temporary art exhibit Las Bicicletas arrived overnight at the Bartel-Pritchard Square entrance to Prospect Park, and local photographer Tom Prendergast spotted them this morning and shared these pics.

First exhibited in Mexico City in 2008, artist Gilberto Aceves Navarro’s bicycle sculptures are meant to encourage people to visit all the exhibition locations by bicycle. With help from the Department of Transportation and NYC Parks, there are 122 bicicletas sculptures being installed this week at 10 public spaces in Brooklyn and lower Manhattan through the end of September — check out this bike map to find a route.
