La Botaneria Space On 7th Avenue Up For Rent

Just over a year after opening, it looks like La Botaneria, the cozy small-bites space from the owners of the nearby Mexican restaurant Fonda, may be calling it quits.

A listing recently went up for the space at 427 7th Avenue, between 14th and 15th Streets, noting it’s available to rent for $3,700 per month starting in January. The 500-square-foot space is described as “move-in ready, recently remodeled, everything stays.” The flyer adds that the business itself may be for sale, noting that the key money price is available upon request and that the LLC is also available for purchase.

Fonda chef and owner Roberto Santibañez opened La Botaneria in the former Beer Table spot in September 2013, and has been serving up delicious small plates — albondigas, frijoles con chorizo, and more — alongside a full bar (the margarita is possibly the best in the neighborhood) ever since. In addition to its regular happy hours, t’s also got a great extended one on Sunday evenings, running from 4-10pm, plus it seems like the perfect spot to wait for a table at Fonda across the street — but perhaps all this hasn’t been enough to pull folks in?

We’ve reached out to Chef Santibañez to see what their plans are for the space, and will update if we hear back.
