Know How to Find & Write Grants? Volunteer at SCAR
Sean Casey Animal Rescue is currently looking for volunteers with experience in finding and applying for grants that can help increase the shelter’s funds:
The nature of SCAR has always been to work hard and get by on what you have. We’ve always struggled to manage a giant workload with a staff that’s overworked and an organization that’s understaffed. That said, we recognize that this strategy is less than ideal. We are looking to increase our funds for hiring purposes. We need volunteers that have time to seek out animal welfare grants and volunteers that are comfortable writing project descriptions with guidance.
If you can help, contact Lorena Carvajal at loricarvajal@yahoo.com.
If you’re not a grant writer, there are of course other ways you can help SCAR. You can make a donation online, you can drop off certain items that they always need, you can volunteer to walk dogs or help out in other ways at the shelter, or you can adopt a new friend like Boston the cat, pictured here, who SCAR took in, sick and near death, from Animal Care & Control, and who is now healthy after jaw surgery.
For more info, stop by the shelter at 153 East 3rd Street any day between 11am and 7pm, call 718-436-5163, or email nyanimalrescue@yahoo.com.
