Knitting, Chess Club, Toddler Time & More Free Events At New Utrecht Library This Week
Are you an older gentleman or woman looking to get out there and socialize with like-minded folks? Or maybe you’re in middle school and need some low-key entertainment after school. Do you have toddler at home?
Great news! From yoga to arts & crafts, the New Utrecht Public Library (1743 86th Street) offers a wide range of free activities for every age group.
Here are some cool events happening this week (January 15-21):
For the 50+ crowd
Channel your inner Socrates by joining this lively conversation on politics, current events, and philosophy.
When: Friday, January 16, 2015 3:30 pm – 5:00 pm
2. Breath & Meditation Workshop
Learn how to reduce stress, calm the mind, and live with joy through breathing techniques and guided meditation. Presented by the Art of Living Foundation
When: Saturday, January 17, 2015 2:00 pm – 3:30 pm
Every Wednesday, seniors meet to do projects like knitting, crocheting, crafting, or just to coffee klatch.
When: Wednesday, January 21, 2015 1pm – 2:30pm
For Teens
1. Game On!
Play a game of Monopoly, Candy Land, Connect 4, or any of our other board games with your old friends or make some new ones.
When: Thursday, January 15, 2015 3:30pm – 4:30pm
2. Chess Club
Perfect for big kids and teens who are interested in chess. You can learn the game or sharpen your skills with instructor Todd Seidman.
When: Friday, January 16, 2015 3:30pm – 5pm
Join a lively discussion of S. E. Hinton’s “The Outsiders.” Teens and adults are welcome.

For Tots
1. Kids Create
Get messy with glitter, glue, construction paper, and more at this weekly craft party for kids.

2. Toddler Time
Kids ages 18 months to 3 years will enjoy stories, music, and movement activities.
When: Tuesday, January 20, 2015 11am – 11:30am
3. Story Play
Enjoy stories, listen to music, and play with toys. For ages birth to 5.
When: Wednesday, January 21 1:30pm – 2pm
