The police arrested the man who has been terrorizing elderly women on and around Kings Highway for the past month.

Akmaljon Abakulov, 27, was taken into custody yesterday, November 3, after someone tipped the police off to his whereabouts, authorities said.

Abakulov started this bag-grabbing on Kings Highway on Wednesday, September 21, at around 8:53am when he pushed a 67-year-old woman from behind and took her bag. The woman sustained minor injuries and refused medical attention, according to police. The bag contained about $200.

He struck again on Sunday, October 9, just around the corner from the first incident at 1724 E 12 St. The victim, a 62-year-old woman, was exiting the building when the burglar came up to her side and took her purse. The purse contained $420, and credit cards, according to police.

A few days later, and a few block east down Kings Highway, he did the same thing a third time, according to police. On Wednesday, October 12, and around 4pm, a 64-year-old woman was leaving the Apple Bank at 1730 Kings Highway when the low-life came up to her from behind, pushed her up against a parked van, and took her purse.

The last time that he struck, at least as far as we know, was on Monday, October 17 at around 7pm. His victim was a 70-year-old woman who was walking eastbound down Kings Highway. He came at her from behind, took her purse, and continued to run eastbound down Kings Highway and onto E 18 Street, according to police.

He is charged with robbery in the third degree, and grand larceny in the fourth degree, according to police.
