Kensington Felony Report: Jaguar Stolen, Woman Robbed of Diamonds & Emeralds, Neighbor Loses Apartment Deposit & More

Right on schedule, the 66th Precinct has sent us its report on felonies committed in Kensington for the past three weeks, Tuesday, January 27 to Sunday, February 15.

This report covers felony crimes that occurred only in Kensington’s two police sectors, G and K. Sector G includes Beverley Road to Avenue F, and 37th Street to Coney Island Avenue; Sector K covers Caton Avenue to Beverley Road and 37th Street to Coney Island Avenue. The entire 66th Precinct is parceled into 13 sectors, lettered A-J.

ROBBERY

Thursday, February 12, 4:15 am–5:40 am. Reported  1.5 hours later.
Ocean Parkway between Beverley Road & Avenue C
A woman, 32, told police she was standing in the lobby when a man, 39, choked her, took her Direct Express Card, and then pushed her down the stairs. Police said she had no visible injuries.

BURGLARY

Wednesday, January 28, sometime between 2 pm & 10 pm. Reported half-hour later.
E. 4th Street between Beverley Rd & Avenue C
A man, 30, returned home to find someone had entered his apartment through the bedroom window, accessible from his fire escape.  The front door was still locked. The missing items included two laptops (a MacBook and a Dell), a Canon camera, and $3,300 cash, the police said.

Monday, February 9 at 5 am.  Reported 9-3/4 hours later
E. 5th Street between Ditmas Avenue & Avenue F
A man, 35, told police he’d parked his bike in his garage early in the morning but when he returned much later, it was gone. He told police he thought the thief gained access by going through his neighbor’s backyard.

Tuesday, February 10, sometime between 9 am-9:15 pm. Reported 45 minutes later.
Tehama Street between Dahill Road & Chester Avenue
A woman, 51, returned home to find her apartment had been ransacked and the front door left ajar. Among the stolen property, which she valued at $35,000, was Canadian money, a diamond ring, a diamond bracelet and an emerald pendant, police said.

GRAND LARCENY

Wednesday, January 28 to Thursday, January 29, sometime between 8:15 pm–6:30 am.  Reported 24 hours later.
Caton Avenue between McDonald Avenue & E. 2nd Street
Returning to where she’d left her 2013 Honda, a woman, 33, told police it was missing its front and rear tires, as well as its tire wheel locks. The approximate value: $3,000.

Thursday, January 29 to Friday, January 30, sometime between 11:30 pm-6am. Reported 45 minutes later.
McDonald Avenue between Avenue C & Cortelyou Road
When a man  34, returned to his parked car, police said, he found the front passenger window broken. He reported a Discover credit card and a Chase debit card missing.

Friday, January 16 at 2 pm. Reported 6.5 hours later.
Tehama Street between Dahill Road & Chester Avenue
The police said a woman, 25, had an appointment at her apartment to make a $2,500 deposit on a new apartment, located at 609 W. 171 St. She gave the man a check and then later was unable to locate him.

Wednesday, February 11 to Thursday, February 12, sometime between 11:30 pm-6:48 am. Reported ½ hour later.
Cortelyou Road between E. 7th & E. 8th Streets
A man, 22, found the rear passenger window on his car broken when he returned to his parking place, cops said. Missing were his wallet, driver’s license and his Visa debit card, he told the police.

Friday, February 13 to Saturday, February 14, sometime between 5:30 pm-10:30 am. Reported one hour later.
Ocean Parkway between Beverley Road & Avenue C
After parking his 2013 Acura in front of his house, a man, 38, turned in for the evening. The next morning he saw that the car was missing all four tires and rims, police said.

GRAND LARCENY AUTO

Tuesday, February 10 to Wednesday, February 11, sometime between 10 pm-6:30 am. Reported 1 hour and 45 minutes later.
Church Avenue between Story Street & Dahill Road
A woman told police she parked her 2010 Ford van here but it wasn’t there when she returned the following morning.

Thursday, February 12 to Friday, February 13, sometime between 5:30 pm-2 am.  Reported one hour later.
E. 8th Street between Church Avenue & Beverley Road.
Police say a man, 55, was all set to drive home at 2 am, but couldn’t find his 2011 Jaguar XF in the spot where he’d parked it earlier that evening.
