Katra Film Series Returns to Alamo Drafthouse for its Summer Series

The Katra Film Series returns to the Alamo Drafthouse Theater for its annual Summer Series, featuring original female-driven content highlighting the current political and sociological climate including a single mother running for office in Liberia, a dark comedy about gender in the workplace and a 1940s feminist throwdown against the patriarchy.

As the Summer temperature rises, so does the films hitting the big screen in a fiery
display of originality and bombast — amidst sweltering street corners & glittering
Coney Island lights, four Brooklyn girls are changed forever by one, very bloody,
night, in Big Bad Wolves directed by Rachel James.

Three suburban moms find themselves novice killers and arbiters of justice when
they learn a heinous gang rapist has been released from prison in the Lady Hunters
directed by Angela Atwood.

Finally, we have an inspiring documentary about a 40-year-old single mother who
returns to her homeland of Liberia to run for President. And in the words of the
director “she’s an example of how a progressive woman can enter the political arena
with no legislative experience and still make an impact,” which brings to mind AOC
rise to power in the U.S. House of Representatives.
