Karrot Health Food Store Closes Today After Over 13 Years
It’s official: local health food store Karrot closes today (Thursday, March 26) after over 13 years in the neighborhood.
The 50 percent off signs have been up for weeks, and you may have noticed the bookshelves and other store furniture out on the sidewalk, but seeing the “Going Out Of Business” sign pop up in recent days still came as a shock to us and other neighbors who passed by.
“I’ve purchased tea and vitamins there for years,” said Joe Gonzalez, a local resident and frequent customer on Wednesday.
That customer loyalty is what allowed Karrot to keep going for so long despite growing competition from other stores with health food products, explained co-owner Radhames.
“We really thank all of you. If it wasn’t for you, we wouldn’t have lasted this long,” he said. “But we’re tired and the numbers wasn’t looking too great, so we have to look to another chapter of our life.”
On the plus side, the Karrot family lives in the neighborhood, so we might still bump into them out and about.
If you want to say goodbye, head over there ASAP as they’re closing the doors for the last time at about noon.
