BROOKLYN – Happy almost Fourth of July! With fireworks come many, many road closures. Here’s a heads up. Plan your commutes wisely and stay safe!

Here’s a list of road closures (at the discretion of the NYPD) in Brooklyn on July 4th for the Macys Fireworks at Brooklyn Bridge Park:

  • Jay Street between York Street and Dead End
  • Pearl Street between York Street and John Street
  • Adams Street between York Street and John Street
  • Washington Street between York Street and Dead End
  • Main Street between Front Street and Plymouth Street
  • John Street between Jay Street and Adams Street
  • Plymouth Street between Adams Street and Main Street
  • Water Street between Adams Street and Old Fulton Street
  • Front Street between Jay Street and Old Fulton Street
  • York Street between Jay Street and Front Street
  • Old Fulton Street between Cadman Plaza West and Furman Street
  • Henry Street between Old Fulton Street and Atlantic Avenue
  • Hicks Street between Brooklyn Queens Expressway and Atlantic Avenue

For the Coney Island 4th of July Fireworks Celebration / Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Contest:

  • The area bounded by the Boardwalk on the South; Surf Avenue on the North, West 10th Street on the East; West 21st Street on the West (All Inclusive)
  • Stillwell Avenue between Mermaid Avenue and Boardwalk

Council Member Mark Treyger, whose district includes Coney Island, announced safety enhancements in the area in anticipation of the July 4th traffic. He notes that through Friday, July 5, the “NYPD will have an aggressive enforcement operation for automobiles that are double & triple parked, parked on the sidewalk, blocking fire hydrants, and bus stops.”

Locals will also see 96 additional NYPD summer detail officers in the area as well as 50 traffic agents stationed at designated intersections for the July 4th festivities.

The 60th Precinct will post additional traffic impacts planned for July 4th, including Belt Parkway exits and reversing W17th Street at night to improve traffic flow.
