Join Sycamore For A Beer & Tacos Party To Benefit Small Business Owners In NYC This Sunday, July 26
This Sunday, July 26, join your neighbors at Sycamore (1118 Cortelyou Road, by Westminster Road), and raise your glass to supporting small businesses across the city — while eating a whole lot of tacos.
Sycamore’s hosting Sunday’s party from 2-8pm, when you can buy tacos and beer to benefit Accion East, a nonprofit micro-lender that works to help small business owners in New York City — including our neighborhood’s Suzanna Cameron, the owner of Stems.
Neighbor Libby Parsons let us know that her own La Chiflada will be donating 15 percent of their profits and tips from Sunday to the nonprofit. Plus, proceeds from the Sam Adams beer that is sold will also be going to Accion, and Suzanna will be raffling off a bouquet for the nonprofit.
Libby, who, when she’s not whipping up her glorious Tex-Mex, works for Accion, and she let us know that her nonprofit recently started a “business accelerator program for its clients on the path to really take off” — including Stems’ Suzanna.
Suzanna and Libby decided to host this Sunday’s fundraiser at Sycamore for Accion, as well as to recruit young professional volunteers to mentor business owners throughout the accelerator program. And,Libby said, “we also want the residents of Ditmas Park to know about these awesome local businesses” that will be sampling their products during Sunday’s festivities, including Salty Road taffy, Queens Courage gin and Jam Stand spreads.
Have any questions? You can find out more about Accion here, or call Sycamore and Stems at 347-240-5850.
Happy beer drinking and taco eating, everyone!
