Do you use the Putnam Triangle Plaza? Do you have opinions about how it could be more useful for residents or more welcoming for visitors? Then this workshop is for you.

The second in a series of community redesign meetings is scheduled for Wednesday, December 3 from 6-8pm at the Grace Agard Harewood Neighborhood Senior Center (966 Fulton Street between Grand Avenue and Cambridge Place).

Residents are encouraged to attend any time between 6 and 8pm, for however long they are able. “So if you have 15 or 20 minutes, you can pop in any time after work and see the designs,” said Phillip Kellogg, executive director of the Fulton Area Business (FAB) Alliance.

“We want people who participated in the first workshop [on September 15] to come back because the first one was about community input and suggestions,” Kellogg explained. “The design teams have been working on it and I imagine people are eager to see the design ideas.”

There will be three concepts to look at, review, and provide feedback on, said Kellogg.

The plaza is located at the intersection of Fulton Street, Putnam Avenue and Grand Avenue.

The Putnam Triangle Plaza redesign process is being overseen by the city Department of Design and Construction and the Department of Transportation, who have contracted with landscape architects Thomas Balsley Associates.

The planned redesign comes on the heels of increased use of the plaza by residents and merchants for jazz concerts, double-dutch, chess tournaments, and more. The revitalization of Fulton Street and neighboring commercial corridors is also adding to the city’s impetus to transform the Plaza into a safe, permanent recreational space in Clinton Hill.
